Evans wildlife control tip of the month:

How to keep squirrels out of my bird feeder

One of the most devastating thing that could ever happen to a bird lover is to see the bird feeders hanging around being taken over by squirrels. They can eat the entire feeder with food and they will mess around the area by tossing the feeds to the ground. In this case, what must be done? There are few Evans animal trapping things you can do like the following:

• Make the feeder squirrel proof
This is one of the most efficient Evans exterminator way to drive the squirrel away from the feeders. A lot of squirrels secured feeders are weight sensitive, that means that if the squirrels will jump over and sit on them, the feeder will close and the creature will not be able to get some food. Some were made with a metal cage, which the smaller rodents cannot invade as well.

• Squirrel collar
You can use a cone like a collar on the post where the bird feeder is located, this can help in deterring the squirrels from eating the bird food. However, they can find their way around the area where they can jump and reach the bird feeder.

• Feed the squirrels
This might not be the right time to do, but if you will give them food to eat, they will not take the food from the bird feeder, since they have an easy access to food.

• Make the post slippery
If the bird feeder is on a wooden post, why don’t you change it and use the metal or Evans wildlife removal PVC pole instead. These materials will make things harder for the squirrels to climb, that means that they cannot get their food from the feeder. You can grease the pole with a cooking oil to make it more slippery.

• Use foods that they do not want
They eat almost anything, including the bird seeds, but there are also some Evans pest control things that they do not eat, such as safflower seed. A lot of birds like it while they don’t. You can also mix the cayenne pepper into the food. You can also use the capsicum, this will make the feeds hot, however, it will not affect or harm the birds, but it will badly affect the squirrels.

There is no need to worry and to panic first and foremost, if you see that the feeders are empty, simply because there are some Evans animal control things you can do to trick the squirrel. If this creature is wise to feed on the bird feed, then you must be wiser to make this being not wanting to attempt ever again.
